NovoThelium placed 3rd place in the Elevator Pitch competition at the 2019 Texas A&M New Ventures Competition. This award included a $3000 cash prize provided by the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station.

YEi Start in France Laureate

NovoThelium is chosen as one of 10 US companies for the 2018 YEi Start in France program, which is an accelerator for young science-based companies interested in growing their business in France and Europe. YEi Start in France provides a personalized immersion week in France including training sessions, networking and one-on-one meetings that will allow each laureate to benefit from an extensive customized business network and connections to the best resources in Europe.

NovoThelium wins MassChallenge Texas $75,000 Platinum Award

NovoThelium was one of two $75,000 Platinum winners in the MassChallenge Texas accelerator program, which awarded a total of $510,000 in non-equity prize money to eight of the top startups from their inaugural 84-startup cohort.

MassChallenge TX Names NovoThelium Top Finalist

NovoThelium was selected as a Top Finalist in the MassChallenge TX accelerator program. We were one of 16 startups selected as Top Finalists from the 84 participating companies. The top 16 startups represent some of the most innovative solutions across a variety of diverse industries, who will now move into the final round of judging where they will compete for a share of $500,000 in equity-free cash prizes to be awarded at the first MassChallenge Texas Awards Ceremony taking place on Wednesday, August 15.

NovoThelium Wins Second Place at WBENC SEP Pitch Competition

NovoThelium CEO Lauren Cornell was selected to participate in the 2018 Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) Student Entreprenuer Program.  NovoThelium placed second in the student pitch competition, winning $6,000 in grant funding. 

 

The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council Student Entrepreneur Program (WBENC SEP) fosters growth for the next generation of women-owned businesses. Aspiring collegiate female entrepreneurs studying in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) or Business receive mentoring from some of the most successful Women's Business Enterprises and America's largest Fortune 500 companies while also participating in a tailored entrepreneurial curriculum, a pitch competition awarding $20,000 in seed capital and experiential learning through off-site visits to Women's Business Enterprises, corporate campuses, and accelerators.

University of Texas at San Antonio Innovation Award

NovoThelium was recognized at the fifth annual Innovation Awards Ceremony. Organized by the UTSA Office of Commercialization and Innovation (OCI), these annual awards are presented in four categories, reflecting UTSA’s success at commercializing new knowledge and technologies. NovoThelium was recognized for successful completion of the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps program.

National Finalist - 2017 InnovateHER Business Challenge

Administrator Linda McMahon, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, announced the 2017 finalists of the SBA’s InnovateHER Business Challenge, the nationwide competition highlighting innovative products, services or technology developed by visionary entrepreneurs that have a measurable impact on the lives of women and families, and in the marketplace. An executive committee of SBA officials evaluated more than 120 semi-finalist nominations and chose 10 finalists to participate in the National Pitch Competition, whose products and services best meet the competition criteria and present the greatest potential for success.

National Science Foundation Innovation Corps Award- Midwest Node

The National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the university laboratory, and accelerates the economic and societal benefits of NSF-funded, basic-research projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. This award includes funding of $50,000 to be used for customer exploration.

First Place - 2017 TVLIC Competition

NovoThelium won first place in the 2017 Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition (TVLIC), hosted by by Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs (TVL) at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. Prizes included a cash award of $10,000 and the opportunity join TVL in New York City to ring the opening Nasdaq bell.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame awarded NovoThelium the Best of Texas Prize, which included a $25,000 cash prize. The Texas Business Hall of Fame awards this prize to the top ranking Texas team in the Rice Business Plan Competition

Sixth Place - 2017 Rice Business Plan Competition

NovoThelium made it to the finalist round in the 2017 Rice Business Plan Competition. We were awarded 6th place out of 42 teams who competed in the 2017 competition. Sixth place included the $3,000 cash Chevron Technology Ventures Prize.

Second Place - International Business Plan Competition

San Antonio Free Trade Alliance hosted the annual International Business Plan Competition. Our team included co-founders Lauren Cerqueira and Bianca Cerqueira, as well as our student intern Kayce Noonan. NovoThelium's business plan focused on exporting our product to the E.U. starting in Belgium. We give special thanks to our mentors in this program, Stuart and Betsy Cameron.

First Place - UTSA CITE Business Model Competition

NovoThelium won first place in the University of Texas at San Antonio Center for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship Business Model Competition. Special thanks to our team members Bianca Cerqueira, Lauren Cornell, Zach Stansbury, Matt Breaker, and Cecillia Nguyen. This award comes with a prize valued at over $46,000 including a $5,000 cash prize.

First Place - Women's Startup Pitch Competition

Texas Woman's University's Hub launched its inaugural Women’s Startup Pitch Competition, held in conjunction with the first Governor's Business Forum for Women in San Antonio. NovoThelium, a biotechnology startup focused on tissue-engineered nipples for breast reconstruction, won the competition. Co-founders Bianca Cerqueira and Lauren Cornell were awarded $5,000, provided through a donation from the Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell Foundation.

National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Corps Award

Medical Technologies Lean Startup Course held at MD Anderson and taught by national I-Corps™ instructors. ​The National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the university laboratory, and accelerates the economic and societal benefits of NSF-funded, basic-research projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. This award came with a $3500 travel award.
